Arthur Fellig, better known as Weegee is often coined as the original street photographer. Originally immigrating from the Ukraine, Weegee made a name for himself documenting the seedier, and often times dangerous, elements of New York night life during the 1930s and ’40s. Take a look below to see a small selection of his work. Perhaps most interesting is the fact he was often known for reaching and documenting crime scenes before local authorities were even able to reach the location.

In honor of his upcoming performance at this year’s Smokeout Festival our good friend and Orisue family member Fashawn is currently accepting fan made submissions for his his upcoming Papers Music Video. The premise is simple, upload a video of yourself partaking in your favorite rolling and smoking activity while listening to and incorporating Fashawn’s “Papers Remix” track from his Higher Learning 2 project. Winners will be featured in the final edit of the Paper’s Remix music video.

S.L.A.T.E. at MAGIC – Day 2 Coverage

Day 2 of S.L.A.T.E. at Magic was definitely busy. The booth continued to see traffic from the press and media who where checking out the new line. It was great catching up with old friends that have supported us for many friends as well as making new ones.

It’s always important to have a pen handy. We had to do it right and make our own Orisue pens and pen holder.

Amanda is here behind the lens. She recorded tons of footage and is working on a MAGIC video as we speak!

We continued to have special guests come by as well. You may remember DJ Green Lantern who hosted our Ode To Illmatic mixtape by Fashawn.

Similac! 2 Chainz also came by to see the new collection as well.

SLATE at MAGIC Day 1 Coverage

Day 1 is a wrap for us at S.L.A.T.E. at MAGIC. We’ve come to show our new Fall ’12 line Brave The New Frontier and it has been received very well. We got prime position on the S.L.A.T.E. floor and when you walk down the aisle we definitely have great presence!

The entire S.L.A.T.E. floor and the show overall has gotten a great facelift. There are tons of new esthetics additions to the show like these skateboard and T.V. “bonfires”.

It’s also never a trade show without some live art. Seventh Letter Crew doing the honors of course.

Right in front of our booth they set up iMac’s for the show goers to access the internet. Check the default browsers though!

We had a bunch of buyers and press come by the booth, but some special guests included Denver Bronco’s Offensive Tackle Ryan Clady . . .
