I just got back from a long, cold, rainy trip to Tampa Florida for the annual Tampa AM(amateur) skateboard contest. It’s basically the super bowl of amateur skateboarding contest’s and it’s put on by and held at the legendary Skate Park of Tampa(SPOTS productions). They hold a few contests throughout the year that are pre-qualifiers to get you to the actual contest at Tampa. Kids come from all over the world to compete in this contest, it’s that legit.
It was my first trip out there so I was more then a little excited. I have been watching the Tampa Pro and the Tampa AM since I started skating so it was nice to be able to finally attend one in person. I took two of our riders out there (Daniel Rodriguez, and Dom Johnson) to compete and represent the O crew. We didn’t make it to the finals but Daniel Rodriguez placed 5th in the best trick competition with a nollie hardflip to feeble grind down the handrail (he got robbed though, should have won or at least gotten top 2).
I found a few new riders so you will be seeing some more from our new guys soon. I even picked up a new tattoo at the skatepark, they were giving out free ones so if you know me then you know I had to jump on it. Here is the video re-cap of the finals. A few of our good friends Clint Walker, Kevin Romar, and Nick Tucker all made it to the top 12 which is fucking impressive considering theres a little over 250 kids in the contest so congratulations guys you deserve it!
ENJOY!!!
